The Pros And Cons Of Rescuing

There are many reasons why you should and should not rescue a Labrador. Before rescuing a Labrador, you should definitely weigh the pros and cons of it.

Labradors are wonderful and playful dogs. They are very loving and they are seen as great playmates for kids. Often, Labradors are treated very much like humans because they can sense your feelings and they tend to respond to your emotions. It would be ideal if you can find a Labrador rescue with little or no health problems so it can save you on medical costs. In addition to little health problems, you should make sure the Labrador has not been previously abused or neglected because this could mean the dog had little or no prior training. Thus, it is very likely that it will take you twice as long to train the Labrador.

A rescue is much cheaper than purchasing a dog from a breeder. Plus, with a rescue, sometimes the dog would eventually be put to sleep if you didn't purchase it - so you could be essentially saving a life when you bring home the Labrador. These are major benefits to recuing a dog as people feel they are truly doing good.

However when getting a Labrador from a breeder, you know the full history and often, family tree of the dog. By meeting the Labradors parents and seeing that they continue to be healthy, it can give you added confidence to know that you are buying a dog which has a good chance of being around for a very long time.

There are pros and cons to each side. The most important point is that whichever way you decide to go - you will be brining an animal into your home to care for and to love. We hope that you are able to find a Lab that you will adore for a lifetime.
