Foods Which Labradors Should Not Be Fed


Labradors will eat anything. We, Labrador owners, really know that they should not be fed table scraps; however we all lapse and feed them a morsel here and there. Here is a list of foods that they really should not be fed.

Acorns
Alcoholic Beverages of any kind
Bones-Especially fish or poultry
Canned tuna


Chocolate:
         - Why?: over stimulates the nervous and heart system
         - Effects: tremors, irregular heartbeat, vomiting, agitation and restlessness, seizures
Caffeinated beverages of any kind
Fat trimmings
Fruit pits or seeds
Grapes or Raisins:
          - Why?: damages kidneys
          - Effects: vomiting, increased thirst, excess urination, and lethargy
Liver
Nuts
Mushrooms
Mustard seeds
Onions or Garlic (in any form):
            - Why?: damages the red blood cells causing anemia
            - Effects: blood in urine, anemia, vomiting, overall weakness
Potato, rhubarb, and tomato leaves and stems
Raw eggs
Raw fish
Baking soda, salt, and baking powder
Sugar free foods with chemical sweeteners:
             - Why?: increases insulin causing low blood sugar
             - Effects: seizures or lack of coordination, diarrhea, jaundice, and vomiting
Raw yeast dough:
             - Why?: fermentation of yeast in stomach causes excess gas and alcoholic poisoning
